Diving into an Unique Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Find the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have discovered plenty of interesting independent titles. However, one stands out for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure lets you play a hero that is actually a dung trying to travel to a restroom. In case you're wondering, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."
Player controls is simple: just use a jump control. Across one hundred fifty stages, you'll face boss fights and unlock a store to buy customizations for your fecal avatar.
Execute your actions with caution, since one wrong move requires beginning again. Leap on air pockets to hurl the poop to new heights, navigate crumbling platforms, and touch switches to open hidden paths. Collect currency to purchase challenging game content where things gets crazy.
In terms of design, the demo features neon level designs and an amazing soundtrack. The simple art with moving abstract forms may remind fans of classic titles like Earthbound.
Although tough to name previous releases where you play as a piece of feces, interactive entertainment often incorporated fecal matter. For example, in Death Stranding, players craft grenades from protagonist excrement. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as fertilizer. Unsurprisingly, this theme is present extensively in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.
Putting aside its silly premise, Unko Technica has already received significant recognition, including taking top honors at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. This trial version is available at present on Steam, with the final release scheduled to arrive on Steam on November 19.
